Thinking a simple solution to a complex solution

Even the most complex situations in life may have a simple solution.......
To illustrate this, here goes a story...
Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had a misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a moneylender. The moneylender who was old and ulgy, fancied the merchant’s beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant’s debt if could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.
The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked up the black pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s  debt would be forgiven. If she picked up a white pebble, she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown in the jail.
They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick up a pebble from the bag.
Careful analysis of the situation shows that the girl had three possibilities:
  1. 1.    The girl should refuse to take a pebble
  2. 2.    The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat
  3. 3.    The girl should pick up a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment

But what did the girl actually do?
The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto a pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.
“ Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said, “but never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which one I picked”. Since the remaining pebble was black, it must be assumed that she picked up the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an advantageous one.
Morale of the story

Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.

At times you need to create your own sunsghine

Not all days of life will be same. While you will be easily sail through some of the days, some of them may prove to be difficult. Life is a mixture of rainy days and days filled with bright sunshine. In order to survive through the rainy days, one needs to create his/ her own sunshine. They need to have a firm faith in themselves, i.e. they by themselves can climb the tallest mountain, dive through the deepest ocean and keep standing tall in front of adversity.
Come whatever……
If such thoughts can be developed, life would be a breeze even in the face of most difficult circumstances.

Can you think of any situation where you had to be your own sunshine in order to survive?

Sometimes you don't know what direction to take.....

Life is full of ups and downs. Everyone have to bear their share of bliss or defeat in their lives. While in most of the cases, moments of bliss just make you happy, the moments of defeat can be a lot worse. They can put you in dilemma regarding the correct path/direction you need to follow to make everything alright again. Many a times your mind and brain speak in unison. In these cases it is easy. However, there are times when the mind and heart speak differently. The heart may tell you something from an emotional point of view whereas the mind may tell you something which appears practical for the situation.
What should one do in such situations? Follow the heart or the brain? Would you take an emotional or a practical decision?

Its all a mind game

People need to control their mind themselves in order to regulate their lives and lead a fruitful life. It all begins and ends in one’s mind. What people give power to has power over them, if they allow it. Our brain is a massive tangle of wires which needs to be untangled in order to unlock our thoughts.

Sometimes you need to take a plunge

Sometimes you need to take a plunge into deep waters even if no else is supporting it or if it is dangerous. These are the situations when one needs to listen to his or her own heart rather than their brains. This may appear to be a very difficult task. But strong headed courageous people may be able to do it. Such people may eventually prove to be successful in the long run.
What are your thoughts on this?

Life is what you make of it

Here is an interesting story, which somebody had posted on the Facebook. As you read it you will realise that indeed life is what we make of it. Our perspective towards life solely depends on how we take  various life’s events and how we look at them. The story goes as follows:
The dirty laundry
A young couple moved into a new neighbourhood.
The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman watches her neighbour hang the washed laundry outside.
“The laundry is not very clean”, she said,” she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.”

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbour would hang her washed clothes to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.
About a month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: Look! She has learnt how to wash correctly. I wonder, who taught her this?”
The husband said, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows”
And so it is with life. What we see when we are watching others, depends on the purity of windows through which we look.

Our life is a creation of our minds.

Is the empty house really without any inhabitants?

What happens when a couple shifts in their own house, a dream they had cherished since long. After much sweat and hard work, when they have finally accumulated the money to buy the house of their dreams, the much awaited day finally arrives and they shift in the new house. The first few days pass wonderfully, but then something starts going wrong. There is no definite proof behind the mishaps which occur, but the string of events which keep happening sometimes make you wonder if there is something in the house which is responsible for all the mishappenings. When you apply your brains you realize that this could not be possible. How can there be more unseen occupants in the house? It is not possible that the house could be haunted. Ghosts and their alikes do not exist in reality......
What could be the possible explanation behind this?
What do you think?

Have you ever faced such a situation in your life?
